Life is a beach

My friend has been sending me photos of his beach holiday. Pfffffff.

Makes me wanna drop everything and spend a week at a quiet beach villa, doing nothing.
No social media, no phone calls.

But looking at a private villa with personal infinity pool and outdoor showers, the cost would be more effective for somewhere further.
Pffffff.

I need to talk myself out of these money and sense bullshit first.

Pffffffff.

Photography deux

Or was it part tres already?

Anyways, this is yet another man behind the camera who not only captures the moment. His work always never fail to call forth emotions, feelings.

Love his portrait shots of unaware strangers. There is just something about it.  I can't put words to it.
It is something along the line of sadness.

This is not just about moments.
The soul of the people he shoots simply went into print as well. What he sees, is what he gets!
MAGIC?!

You don't just ask a professional what mean machine they are using and simply follow their footsteps and purchase it thinking that you can do the same.
Talent doesn't work this way.

Please. Click on the link and be transported to a journey through his eyes.
It is so good that you might probably feel where he was at that instance.

He does have a funny name though. Tennant. *chuckles*

Black and White

Again, as I was clicking through websites and chance upon this.

I've always like black and white photography. Because other than the composition of the image, you can only play with lights and shadows. (something I am not good at. sheesh.. )

And this, absolutely captured the essence of black and white photography.

I know you can tweak the lights and all that jazz from photo editing software.
But nothing compares to the originals.
Some people are a natural at capturing the moment.

"Critically acclaimed Chinese photographer Fan Ho spent the 1950s and 60s taking gritty and darkly beautiful photos of street life in Hong Kong. His photographs, to be published in his new book “Fan Ho: A Hong Kong Memoir“, reach back through time and space to connect us to the everyday sights of this bustling metropolis in a way that many of us have never seen before.
Ever since Ho moved to Hong Kong from Shanghai in 1949, he has been documenting these special everyday moments. But the challenges (and superstitions) he faced then were quite different from those faced by photographers today; “With a knife in his hand, a pig butcher said he would chop me. He wanted his spirit back,” Ho told the South China Morning Post."

Here for more images of his artwork.

Photography

The art of  photography,as we all know, are usually through our eyes.
And perhaps forgotten until we stumble upon something that jolts that part of our memory.

But in this day and age, everyone has a camera handy. Be it a camera attached to your mobile phone, a point and shoot or the mutha-heavy DSLR.

Sometimes the angle you see with your eyes may not be what you might capture onto your camera. (at least that's just what happens to me. pfffffff!!)

So I was scrolling though flickr and there I saw this album.
You know the saying that a good photo not only captures the moment, it takes in all the essence at that instance.
Now this is one that caught my eye, mind and soul.

I am not acquainted with the person behind that account. I'm just here to share her photos she have taken while travelling. And I really have to share it.

Taking a good photo doesn't mean you need to be equip with a state-of-the-art camera.
All you need is good eye. An idea. A direction.

I think it is the same with cooking.
Your woking tossing usually tells not only your skills but also your mood at that very moment.

time to get back to work.
